SOLIDS

• Have a definite shape and volume
• Do Not take the shape of their container
• Particles vibrate but not enough to change
  position
• The change from a solid to a liquid is called
  Melting
• Crystalline Solids have a repeating
  three-dimensional pattern
• Amorphous Solids have no repeating pattern

LIQUIDS

• Have a definite volume but no definite shape
• Takes the shape of its container
• Viscosity a liquids resistance to flow
• The higher the viscosity the slower a liquid
  flows
• Surface tension is created by uneven forces
  acting on the surface of a liquid
• Surface tension causes the water to act like it
  has a thin film covering it.
• Surface tension causes water droplets to form
• Freezing occurs when a liquid changes to a solid
• Vaporization when a liquid changes to a gas

Gases

• Have no definite shape or volume
• Particles move at a high speed in all directions
• Can expand or be compressed
• Vapor a gas that started out as a liquid
• Condensation when a gas changes to a liquid

• 0 degrees Celsius

• Boiling point is
• 212 degrees Fahrenheit
• 100 degrees Celsius
