• Cripple Germany so it could not attack France
  again
• Germany to be broken up into a collection of
  smaller states
• A treaty to weaken Germany as much as possible

• There was disagreement about what the conference
  was aiming to do. Some of the reasons were
• To punish Germany
• To cripple Germany so they could not start
  another war
• To reward the winning countries
• To establish a just and lasting peace

• To built a better and more peaceful world after
  WW1

  May to a horrified Nation
• Germany was to loose

• 50 of its iron and steel industry
• Its army reduced to 100 000 men
• It could have no airforce
• It could only have a tiny navy
• Germany had to accept the blame of the war
• Therefore had to pay reparations
