Background
With the last CJK NGN-WG, Ms. Zhang (CCSA)
provided information on Home Networking
activities including standardization efforts of
TISPAN and internal to China. She also proposed
collaboration among CJK NGN-WG members to
initiate the study on the issue especially
requirements, architecture, and scenarios. The
meeting generally agreed the importance of the
proposal and requested more information for
further discussion in this CJK NGN-WG meeting.
The meeting also agreed to form an expert group
for home networking issue discussion. The group
should exchange views to formulate study items in
this area. Introduction of examination situation
of Home Networking activities in Japan.

Establishment of the Next Generation IP Network
Promotion Forum

• The Next Generation IP Network Promotion Forum
  was established on Dec. 16,
• 2005, to promote the transition to IP-based
  network in Japan, under a close link
• between industry, government and academia.
• This was an action taken based on a report from
  an MIC study group.

• Next Generation IP Network Promotion Forum
• Chairman Tadao Saito, Professor emeritus, the
  University of Tokyo
• The forum consists of various operators, vendors
  and academics. (Currently 211
• companies/institutions are participating.)
• It investigates the technical standards for the
  next generation IP networks,
• verifies them through the experimental and
  interoperability tests, and also
• promotes RD and standardization.

Objectives The achievement of next generation
home network becomes indispensable with the
coming in the NGN era. The WG examines the
interconnection examination and the demonstration
experiment (test bed) on next generation home
network, and promotes the research, development
and standardization in the strategy, under a
close link between industry, government and
