A Note on Intellectual Property
  • IETF IPR policy requires that participants who
are aware of IPR on IETF submissions declare it
  • Both first party and third party declarations
  • See RFC 3979
  • IPR declarations were received from several
    companies on pre-cursors to CAPWAP
  • At least four companies on four different specs
  • One company had different terms for different
    specs
  • Not clear how/if that IPR relates to current
    CAPWAP specifications, especially post-split
  • Chairs will be working with AD and Secretariat to
    clarify and update IPR declarations
  • Hopefully to include details about what portions
    of the spec(s) are encumbered
  • Please update existing declarations!!

6
MIB Status
  • Does it make sense to produce two MIBs to match
    the two CAPWAP protocol specs?
  • CAPWAP Base Protocol MIB 802.11 Binding MIB
  • Volunteers needed
  • Are there proprietary MIBs available that we
could use as examples to accelerate this work?
  • Must be publicly contributed to the IETF
  • No promises about using them directly
