4Patient Demographics
- This rotation will provide externs with a wide
variety of clinical experience. At the present
time, 70 of this practice is medical, of which
30 is Glaucoma. The remaining 30, is a mixture
of Contact Lenses and Primary Care Optometry. The
rotation will give the extern the opportunity to
work in a retinal clinic with a staff retinal
surgeon. It will also include hospital exposure,
seeing patients in the emergency room and ICU as
well as an in-patient setting at East Texas
Medical Center, Carthage, Texas.
5Staff members are Paraoptometric Certified
Direct intern patient contacts during this
rotation is estimated at 1000.
6At Golden Eye Associates, we have the latest
technology, consisting of the Humphrey Automatic
Lensometer and Auto-Refractor, GDX-Optic Nerve
Fiber Analysis, the Humphrey Corneal Topographer,
the Canon Digital Retinal Camera, Humphrey Visual

Electronic Medical Records.
