• Be Prepared!
• Be Respectful!
• Be Yourself!
• Use Good Techniques!

Be Prepared!

• Do some research before the interview
• Check your equipment before the interview
• Have extra supplies that you might need
• Have all the forms you need

Be Respectful!

• Be on time
• Show interest when the persons talking
• Inform the person about the projects goals and
  your plans

• Dont make promises you wont or cant keep
• Let the person review your work before you hand
  it in or publish it

Be Yourself!

• Relax! Treat the interview like a conversation
  with a new friend.
• Help the other person to relax too.

Use Good Techniques!

• Have general and specific questions ready.
• Listen to the answers and ask follow-up questions
• Use props to help jog memories.
• Leave the recorder on unless asked to turn it
  off.

• Use a tape recorder with an external microphone
  (one that is not in the recorder).
• Place the microphone close to the interviewees
  voice.
