Talking to Players (Ceremonial Word)
  • Take player to neutral area
  • Be assertive but not aggressive (firm but polite)
  • Be aware not to get into arguments
  • Not too close but not too far away (personal
    bubble)
  • Manage the situation and finish by asking player
    to return to his position

Disciplinary Procedures
  • Cards only to be shown when cautioning or sending
    off players and substitutes
  • Other officials can be reported under Law 5 and
    told to leave the technical area
  • Dismissed trainers still allowed to treat players
  • Dismissed players not allowed to be club
    assistant referees
  • Disciplinary reports to County FA
  • Other reports (e.g.abandoned matches, ground
    deficiencies etc.) to competition

  • Take player to neutral area
  • Say This is a Caution
  • Enquire full name and write in notebook
  • Say If you commit another cautionable offence
    you will be sent from the field of play
  • Show Yellow card (non aggressively)
  • Report after match

  • Enquire full name and write in notebook
  • Tell player he is being sent off
  • Show Red Card (non aggressively)
  • Report after match
  • If second caution,show yellow card , then red
  • Player refuses to give name get it from club
    and report
  • Player refuses to leave field abandon match and
    report

  • Referee disciplined if he fails to submit report
  • Accurately fill in details of player / team /
    match etc.
  • Select correct section of Law
  • Tell story in chronological order
  • Report to be
  • Accurate (100)
  • Brief (But must include all relevant
    observations)
  • Clear (To someone who was not at the game)
  • Dissent / Foul Language actual words must be
    quoted
  • Send by first class post to County FA within 2
    days
