Space Objects involved.
How Often it Occurs.
4Types of Solar Eclipses
- The moons shadow has two different parts, the
penumbra which is the faint outer region the
umbra which is the dark inner shadow. - Depending on which part of the shadow passes over
you, you will see one of the three types of solar
eclipses - Total - The entire central portion of the sun is
blocked out. - Partial - Only part of the sun's surface is
blocked out. - Annular - Only a small, ring-like sliver of light
is seen from the sun's disc
5Quiz...

A. Only part of the suns surface is blocked
out. B. Only a small, ring-like sliver of light

portion of the sun is blocked out. D. None of the
above.
6Explanation of Solar Eclipse.

9How Often a Solar Eclipse Occurs and why.
- The moon passes between the sun and the earth
every 29 ½ days. - The moons orbit is tilted about 5 degrees from
the Earths, its shadow usually passes above or
below our planet. - At least twice a year it lines up so that some
part of the moons shadow falls on the earth. No
more than 5 times. - A total solar eclipse lasts for around 3 minutes.

25Space Objects
The space objects that are involved in a solar
eclipse are the sun, the moon the earth. The
moon passes between the sun and the earth causing
a shadow to overcome the earth because the suns
light would be covered by the moon.
