  • 1. All class operations will be conducted
  • 100 in Spanish by the end of the year.
  • 2. All students will learn to truly enjoy
  • reading a book.
  • 3. Students will take steps towards

7
Definition negative scripts
  • contain words and actions of parenting (or
teaching) that, rather than help foster
resilience, are more prone to increase conflict
    (61).

8
Obstacles
  • One size fits all
  • Changing my words will spoil the child
  • It was good enough for me, or I turned out OK
  • Our children should be more appreciative of our
    hard work
  • A goal is realistic if I say so

9
Guideposts
  • Accept your responsibility to change.
  • Know the problem know the goal.
  • Know what you have done so far and why it hasnt
    worked.
  • Seek and ye shall find every problem has a
    positive solution.
  • If at first you dont succeed, try again.

10
So, it's back to school night
  • In your individual school teams, answer at least
    3 question in the envelope.
  • Role play Parent asks, teachers answers.
  • Debrief What worked? What required further
    discussion, thinking?
