Instrumental Teachers
  • Mr. Karl Tracy- Orchestra Director
  • This is Mr. Tracys fourth year of teaching at
    Riverside Elementary School. Prior to RES, he
    taught at several private schools in Baltimore
    County, after graduating from Towson University
    with a degree in Music Education. He also
    teaches orchestra at Joppatowne Elementary and
    Magnolia Middle School.
  • Mrs. Heather Dicken- Band Director
  • This is Mrs. Dickens ninth year of teaching at
    Riverside Elementary School. After graduating
    from Frostburg State University with a degree in
    Music Education, she began working in Harford
    County Public Schools teaching the band programs
    at Riverside and Roye-Williams Elementary School
    in Havre de Grace. She recently graduated from
    Towson University with a Masters degree in
    Instructional Technology.

Scheduling
  • 4th and 5th Grade Students who choose to
    participate in the instrumental music program
    will receive two half-hour lessons a week.
  • Students will be pulled out of their regularly
    scheduled class to attend their lessons.
  • Instrumental students are responsible for making
    up any and all work they might miss in the
    classroom while attending their scheduled
    lessons.
  • Students are required to attend all scheduled
    instrumental lessons, and to bring their
    instrument and folders to all lessons.
  • Instrumental students are also responsible for
    checking their schedule and coming on time to all
    lessons.
  • Students who miss more than four scheduled
    lessons due to forgetting their instrument or
    forgetting to attend their lesson will not be
    allowed to participate in the school concert.
  • Make up sessions will be available for students
    who need to make up lessons.
