What is ATA 1?
ATA-1 rocket system has been planned as a simple
and low-cost aimed project which would be the
first step in the space rocket studies in Turkey.

• The primary aim of the project is to form a
  platform on rocket science and give the young
  generation a chance to come around and work on
  their interests and deploy the results to
  different technological areas.

ATA 1 and SpaceTurk...
ATA 1 is the result of a 8 month work period of
people in SpaceTurk.

• Since June 2002, ATA 1 is an independent working
  group with many members from different
  disciplines.
• SpaceTurk is main support and promoter of the
  project.

Launcher Design

• Two - Staged
• Liquid Propellant for both stages
• Very Light and small (6 tons and 15 meters long)
• 10 kg Payload can be put into 500 kms Circular
  Low Earth Orbit

Why small payload capacity?

• Cheaper
• Easy to construct and test
• Key project for future launchers
• also future space trend is small launcher design
  (ie. ESA Vega launcher)

• 10 kg weighted satellites are possible for earth
  observations from LEO with new technology

Lift - Off !!

• Launch pad is planned to located at northwest of
  Turkey (Near Black-Sea)
• After 100 seconds, first stage will drop east of
  Black Sea
• Control of rocket will be supplied by several
  ground stations in Turkey and Turkic States

Is it possible?

• ATA 1 is a Key project to increase the public
  awareness into space -related subjects in Turkey.
  
• It is obviously seen that a rocket project
  cannot be completed with amateurs and volunteers.

What did happen since June 2002?

• Project discussed between readers SpaceTurk in
  August 2002, Bilim Teknik 5th National
  Observation Festival in Antalya
• In 14th of September, participants SpaceTurk
  had a planning meeting in TUBITAK (Ankara)

These meetings were very important for future
space activities in Turkey.

What we have deserved?

• First human resources pool
• Company and their working field index
• in space area...

Future..

• Our next step is to develop Pre-feasibility
  report to feasibility report. This report will
  determine the future of the ATA 1.
• According to result of report...

ATA 1 team will search for financial support
SpaceTurk will publish the report and give
details to space authorities in Turkey
