Why Apply for an ARC Grant

• Our Goal as Academics is to do high quality
  research and publish it in the best possible
  place
• Does applying for an ARC grant help?

Pros

• Basically what you get from an ARC grant is a
  full time Research Assistant
• Most people would benefit from having a full time
  research assistant helping with their research
• Deans and Vice Chancellors seem to notice you and
  smile upon you!

Cons

• Dont want to lose sight of your goal of doing
  high quality research and publishing it in the
  best possible place
• Grant should be in your research area
• Research you are already doing
• Research that is on your research agenda
• Dont want to get into the situation where you
  get the grant but because you promised things
  that werent on your research agenda, you are so
  busy fulfilling the conditions of the grant that
  you are unable to do your real research!
