Introduction

• What is the best way to catch an animal? A long
  time ago it was the steel leg hold trap. There
  were many trappers that did used the steel traps.
  The furs caught by the trappers were sent trading
  posts/forts owned by the HBC They were then sent
  back to England and manufactured into hats or
  other fashionable items.

What is it?

• The steel leg hold trap is the most effective way
  to catch an animal without destroying the fur.

How is it used?

• The trap was surround with food so when the
  animal went for the food its foot would get
  trapped and not its head.

What it catches?

• The steel leg hold trap would catch animals like
  beavers, bobcats, wolves, muskrats and many more.

What was it made of ? how was it made ?

• It was made of steel and the metal was melted
  down into molds which made the shape and they
  made special parts that made the trap work.

Is it still used today?

• Yes steel traps are still used today. it is the
  best way to catch animals furs . We still use
  furs for jackets, hats and more
