Grading

• Homework ( 8-9 homeworks) 30
• Purpose is to solidify material and make you
  think deeper about concepts. You can work
  together, but each problem solution should be
  stated in your words
• Midterms (two, 1 after first third, 1 after
  second third) 30
• Final project 40
• will start about half way through course
• Individual projects mentored by former students
  or professors
• Final presentation (PowerPoint) and final report
  (like conference paper).
• Material presented during Wed. seminars will not
  be tested on, but attendance is required.
  Possibly used for home work questions.

Wed. Seminars

• Wed. 11-12 (Wang room)
• Each (registered) student presents one paper.
• Presentation is in PowerPoint
• First student presentation starts at week 3
• Purpose
• Good practice in giving an oral presentation
• Advanced material
• Material should be constructed to give the
  overall ideas of the paper without going into all
  the details.
• First two weeks given by TA on
• How to do proofs
• Boolean algebra
• Topic assignments will be given out tomorrow
