8
Examples of Goals - Long Term
  • I want to work as a producer
  • Im particularly interested in taking ideas from
an early stage through to production.
  • I would like to work on small productions,
particularly drama for film and television

9
Example Goals - Continued
  • I want to write professionally, probably as a
free lance. The main area Im interested in is
writing comedy, for television, but I realise
that this is the most competitive medium and I
may well have to write in a number of different
mediums such as for stand ups, radio, print and
    the web.
  • Also I may have to learn to write for different
genres not just comedy in order to make a
living, especially to start with. It will be very
important for me to develop a reputation for the
quality of my writing but also for being
    dependable and flexible.

10
Example Goals - Continued
  • Also a network of contacts will be important.
This causes me a difficulty because I find it
hard to talk about myself so I will try to
improve on this by practicing on my course but
also by trying to focus on my ideas not on me and
also by choosing to contact people that seem
similar to me. Finding others to work with who
are also trying to build a reputation will also
    help.
  • New Goals
  • Develop contacts improve how I present my ideas.

11
Assessing Self Evaluation
  • Thoroughly review their own strengths and
weaknesses (particularly as a learner) and relate
these to relevant models, such as learning styles

?
12
Areas for Self Evaluation
  • Attitude to and Skills as a Learner
  • Use work on Learning Styles - what are your
    preferences
  • How independent are you and how well do you work
    with others
  • Skills - Transferable Subject Specific
  • Your interests / passions
  • Things that you have realised from your course
  • Things that you most want / need to change

13
Example Self Evaluation
  • I am good at developing ideas. I can come up with
lots of ideas by myself although I find it easier
to choose which idea is best to work on by
discusssing them with others. I am not as good at
presenting my ideas I am pretty good at doing
this with friends and when chatting but not so
good when Im in front of tutors. I find that
its difficult to convince people of how good my
ideas are and sometimes this makes me doubt them
(and also my mind goes blank).

14
Self evaluation - Continued
  • I have found that Im better at organising and
administration than I thought that I would be. I
can work out the budgets and shooting schedule.
In unit xxx and projects xxx I have taken
    responsibility for these aspects
  • This has made me think that I might be able to
work as a producer or production manager

15
Self Evaluation and Reflection
  • The greatest unexplored territory in the world
is the space between our ears O Brien
  • People with a high level of personal mastery are
acutely aware of their ignorance, their
    incompetence, their growth areas
  • And they are deeply self-confident Senge The
    Fifth Discipline.
