Accreditation Activities in Peru
  • Moshe Kam visited Peru in July and made a
presentation at the Peruvian Computer Week
    Conference.
  • He also met with the leadership of ICACIT to
    discuss the translation of TryEngineering.org
into Spanish, and sponsoring a Program Evaluation
    Training Workshop.
  • This workshop is planned for 1-3 December in Lima
to train 40 participants and will be delivered in
    Spanish.
  • The purpose of this workshop is to educate the
    ICACIT members about ABET processes.

Accreditation Activities in Peru
  • This will help Peruvian educators and
practitioners move towards setting up their own
criteria procedures, so that ultimately they can
conduct their own evaluations in engineering,
    technology and computing.
  • To assist in this goal, EAB received approval
from ABET to translate their procedures and
    processes into Spanish.

5
Accreditation Activities in China
  • A Working Group on Education in China has been
formed and met by conference call on 9 October.
  • A face-to-face meeting is planned for on 24-25
November in Beijing. This groups agenda includes
    information sharing, learning about accrediting
bodies worldwide and a snapshot of Chinese
    accreditation.
  • They will also determine the needs for future
meetings and review planning activities for 2007.

6
Accreditation Activities in the West Indies
  • In order to fulfill a request from the University
of West Indies on how IEEE can help them reform
    their accreditation system
  • Moshe Kam and Pedro Ray plan to meet with them in
    December for preliminary information gathering.
