What is Title I and Title III?

• Title I is a program that is funded by the
  Federal Government that provides extra assistance
  to help students meet national and state
  achievement standards.
• Title III is a program that helps students learn
  the English language. It is also funded by the
  Federal Government.

How do students qualify for the program?

• Students are identified to receive services based
  on the following criteria
• Specific test scores that measure Literacy Skills
• Teacher recommendations

How will I know if my child has been identified?

• All parents will be notified by a letter that
  will be mailed home in November that will state
  the child will receive Title I services.

Who will work with my child?

• All students in the Title I program will work
  with Title I tutors.
• All Title I tutors have a Bachelors Degree. Most
  are in the field of Education and some in other
  areas.
• Students will work in small groups daily or
  several times a week with a tutor.
• Students receive instruction from a Literacy
  Program based on their individual needs.

• Harcourt Trophies Intervention Kits (K-2)
• Early Success (1st and 2nd Grade Only)

• An agreement between Prendergast School and the
  parents to work together to ensure that all
  students are successful in all that they do.
• Please see handout.

Activities Promoting Family Literacy

• Phonics, phonemic awareness, oral language,
  comprehension, etc.
• Handouts and Parent Books with activities to do
  at home.
