What is a Direct Payment?

• Direct payments create more flexibility in the
  provision of social services. Giving money in
  place of social care services means people have
  greater choice and control over their lives, and
  are able to make their own decisions about how
  their care is delivered.
• Direct Payments are cash payments made in lieu of
  social service provisions, to individuals who
  have been assessed as needing services.

Individual Budgets-What are they?

• A pot of money which might come from different
  places but we will minimise the paperwork and
  number of assessments required
• Unlike Direct Payments the budgets can be virtual
  and delivered in different ways
• People will have a lot of control over it and can
  use it flexibly in a way that makes most sense to
  them
• We will ensure people can get support if they
  want, from people they choose to help them make
  best use of the money
