Student Expectations 6 Ps
  • Be prompt
  • Students ready to learn when class begins.
  • Be prepared

  • Do quality work at all times - expect that it
    might be collected.
  • There is a quiz everyday, unless it is cancelled.
  • Be a polite and positive participant
  • Pay attention and be involved in all activities.
  • Get involved and listen attentively to others.
  • Be proactive
  • Correct problems quickly before they escalate.
  • See the instructor if you feel you are falling
    behind.

3
Respect
  • Value yourself. Be honest and ethical, and
practice strong moral values. The most important
form of respect starts with self-respect.
  • Treat all members of the school community and all
    visitors with politeness and respect.
  • Honor the ideas and opinions of others.
  • Offer to help.
  • Be responsible with property and belongings.

Responsibility Coursework
  • Bring notebook, textbook, TI-8X calculator,
planner, and appropriate writing tools to class.
  • Know due dates, and submit all coursework on
    time.
  • All assignments are distributed in hard copy on a
blue assignment sheet, posted on the bulletin
board and on the class Web site.
  • Anticipate that a subset of the assignments will
be collected or checked without prior notice.
Missed assignments must be made up, or further
    penalties will be incurred.

5
Promote Lifelong Learning of Mathematics
  • You can develop lifelong learning traits
  • By showing curiosity about mathematics in its
abstract symbolic form nature and how it is
    applied to the real world.
  • By seeking and valuing a diversity of approaches
    to problem solving.
  • By learning and applying technology tools to
    solve problems.
  • By making sure you have developed a fine balance
    between technical proficiency with symbolic
    manipulation and general overall conceptual
understanding. (Can you DO IT, and do you GET
    IT?)

Policies
  • Retests
  • Sometimes a student earns less than a C on a
Major Examination It may be re-addressed
through test corrections and re-testing, given
    the student ensures
  • he/she has been involved during class.
  • he/she has maintained complete notes to
    substantiate your effort.
  • He/she has completed all homework for that unit
    up to date.
  • Absences
  • Ask team members or a classmate first for
assignments, and notes that may have been taken.
  • Each absence has a one-day grace period to make
    up tests, quizzes or assignments.
  • Excessive absences due to illness, sports,
    co-curriculars, field-trips are extremely
discouraged, as they have been proven to
significantly damage the students progress and
    overall achievement.
