  • The subject of a sentence is always a noun
  • It is the noun that is the do-er or be-er of the
    action.
  • When additional words are used to describe or
    name the subject, this is part of the complete
    subject.
  • The simple subject is just the noun all by itself

  • The police officer helped at the accident.
  • The nurse assisted the patient.

  • The ugly dog broke down the fence and ran away.
