PRESENTATION OF CHOOSEN CHAPTER

• Chapter 3 Prevention in local communities by
  Grazyna Swiatkiewicz
• This chapter is an attempt to define both the
  term of a local community and the moment when we
  can call local actions a strategy. It contains a
  description of the objective oriented project
  planning methodology (OOPP). This method to a
  large extent helps to avoid non-constructive
  arguments that we often have to deal with when
  representatives of different local institutions
  and organizations meet. This method proves that
  the reliable diagnosis of problem conditions and
  its consequences makes it very easy to pinpoint
  the areas of preventive actions.

PLANS FOR THE FUTURE

• Dissemination of 3500 handbooks among local
  authorities, professionals and activists
• Dissemination of evaluatitve questionnaires
• Placing the handbook on the National Bureau for
  Drug Prevention website
• Developing the series of trainings based on the
  handbook content
• Monitoring handbook usefulness for local
  professionals and activists during the trainings
