  • Article 7. (1) The legal system of the Republic
    of Hungary accepts the generally recognized
    principles of international law, and shall
    harmonize the country's domestic law with the
    obligations assumed under international law.
  • Article 70/A. (1) The Republic of Hungary shall
    respect the human rights and civil rights of all
    persons in the country without discrimination on
    the basis of race, color, gender, language,
    religion, political or other opinion, national or
    social origins, financial situation, birth or on
    any other grounds whatsoever. (2) The law shall
    provide for strict punishment of discrimination
    on the basis of Paragraph (1).

Equal Treatment Authority
  • started its work on the 1st of February 2005.
  • it is an independent organization
  • receives and deals with individual and public
    complaints about unequal treatment
  • implement the principles of equality and non
    discrimination
  • The decisions of the Authority - If the Authority
    has established that the principles of equal
    treatment have been violated, it may
  • order that the situation constituting the
    violation of law shall be eliminated
  • prohibit the continuation of the violation of law
  • publish its decision establishing the violation
    of law
  • impose a fine from fifty thousand to six million
    HUF (cca. 23000 Euros)
  • Damage can only be awarded by the court!
