2Istanbul Fashion Days started to create a project
that has integrity with the manifest strong
ideas create strong realities, so the whole
textile and fashion industry, together with all
those that turn fashion, from design and
manufacturing to retail, will be united under an
organized structure and work to make Istanbul,
the European Capital of Culture in 2010, one of
the attention grabbing spots of the fashion
world.
3- Istanbul Fashion Days is a massive fashion
event consisting of competitions, fashion shows
and fairs, where fashion designers and ready wear
brands are present, which the whole city will
experience, gathering all organizations related
to fashion under one roof and giving Istanbul a
week of fashion breeze organized by ITKIB,
together with the cooperation of Fashion
Designers Association and Istanbul Fashion
Academy. - The shrinking retail market in Europe due to the
effect of the global economic crisis also
adversely affected the Turkish textile and
apparel market for, some of Turkeys exporting
is to these countries.
4- If Turkey carries out an efficient strategy in
these shrinking and changing markets in the
apparel and textile sector, the global adverse
effects on Turkey will be on a minimum level. - Within this frame, the ISTANBUL FASHION DAYS
event will contribute to strengthening Turkeys
image and turning this difficulty into an
advantage. - Thanks to IFD, which will be organized in
Istanbul as of 2009 just like the rest of the
worlds leading fashion capitals, and to its new
sustainable structure, Turkey will now begin to
take its place on the world fashion calendar.
5- Istanbul Fashion Days with its Firsts
- Istanbul Fashion Days will be uniting our major
designers under Fashion Lab and our leading
apparel brands under Brandist for the first
time bringing them together with national and
international press, buyer groups and sector
followers. - In this context,

7- Koza Young Fashion Designers Competition
- Organized by the Istanbul Textile And Apparel
Exporter Associations (ITKIB) for the last 17
years to discover new designers, the Young
Fashion Designers Competition will be organized
with its new name KOZA as of 2009. - In order to focus merely on talent, some changes
have been implemented to the competition phase,
which is to be finalized with a fashion show on
26 August 2009. The most important of these is
the addition of a separate leather category for
contestants who wish to present leather
collections. - KOZA young designers competition within the body
of IFD will create an important platform for the
youth for displaying their talent, thus talented
young designers will join the sector after being
given the opportunity for displaying their talent
in apparel as well as in the leather category,
which will be a first.

9- Istanbul Fashion Lab
- The first Fashion Lab event was organized in 2008
by the Fashion Designers Association (MTD) and,
this year, the leading fashion designers of
Turkey will be presenting the 2010 summer
collection under the roof of IFD for the first
time.

11- Brandist
- This joining of forces in the Turkish fashion
sector will be supported by a boutique fair
organization that will be participated by
approximately 25 brands and where, for a period
of three days, they will be presenting their 2010
summer collections, which have been prepared in
accordance with the world calendar.

- Positioning Istanbul as the regions fashion
center, since the city has a developed awareness

- An efficient communication work will be carried
out with a PR firm having expertise in the sector
to attract the attention of the target masses and
enable their contribution through potential
sponsor companies by having IFD presented in the
media, efficiently and regularly. - The communication work shall commence in June as
per the national PR calendar created and a 3
month intensive PR work will be carried out for
the following titles.
18Within the scope of the PR Calendar within the
scope of PR implementations for Istanbul Fashion
Days KOZA, FASHIONLAB and BRANDIST, which are
under IFDs umbrella regular printed and visual
press works will be carried out. The media will
be constantly informed via bulletins,
announcements and publicity materials, and the
work will be supported by interviews and special
news. Within the scope of the PR implementations,
three separate press conferences will be
organized one each directed at the launching and
the financial press for IFD and a general one for
KOZA. There will be three separate press kits,
which will be prepared for these press
conferences and they will be forwarded to the
local press and also to the foreign PR agencies
for distribution to the foreign press.
An abundance of news will be attained in the
sectoral publications and national newspapers,
through the advertorials that will be shot for
the IFD Committee, FASHIONLAB designers and
collections and KOZA finalists and their designs,
in order to increase the effect of the PR works
in the printed and visual media.
19Advertising Abroad The media plan for the works
for advertising abroad will become clear in the
coming days and it will be carried out in a
manner to cover the weekly and monthly
female-fashion, current events and economy
magazines and such works will be included in the
sectoral fashion, design and trend magazine and
web sites.

21Advertising in Turkey the advertising work will
commence in July and will continue for 2 months
during which weekly and monthly female-fashion,
current events and economy magazines will be
used intensively. Within the scope of the
advertising works, distribution of an insert
containing the event program in one monthly and
one weekly magazine in August is also among the
projections. Apart from the printed press advert
applications, the event announcement will be
presented to huge masses by billboard
and raket applications, which will be used all
over Istanbul for a period of two weeks on 15-30
August.
