Course description

• Discussion of the theories of juvenile
  delinquency and juvenile justice. Intro to the
  functions organization jurisdiction of juvenile
  agencies

• Distinguish between various theories of juvenile
  delinquency
• diagram the historical growth of juvenile justice
  in America
• identify the various causes of juvenile
  delinquency
• ascertain what constitutes a juvenile gang and
  identify responses to gang behavior

  forms of child abuse and juvenile delinquency
• diagram and list the American juvenile justice
  agencies and identify their structure functions
  organization and jurisdiction
• diagram and list of participants in the juvenile
  court system

  the juvenile court system
• identify the different procedural steps in the
  processing and attention of juveniles
• compare and contrast juvenile probation and
  juvenile parole
• distinguish between the remedies of education
  incarceration and rehabilitation for the problem
  of juvenile delinquency

• Mondays and Wednesdays lectures and student
  presentations
• Fridays student workgroups, short lectures and
  quizzes
• all assignments must be turned in by 1200 hrs the
  day they are due.
• Rough drafts may be turned in any time prior to
  due date
