• They have long noses and compact bodies.
• They only live for two or three years.
• Grey fur
• White belly
• Pointy tail with dark base
• Large pointed ears

• Some species of bandicoots are carnivores, while
  others are omnivores
• Bandicoots sleep during the day
• They are common in Tasmania
• They live in grassy areas

Why is the Eastern Barred Bandicoot endangered?

• Sheep and cattle ate all the grass.
• The roots and weeds and rabbits took over the
  grasslands.
• Native animals and plants have started to
  disappear.

How is the Eastern Barred Bandicoot being
protected?

• A recovery program was started to save the
  bandicoot
• The program alerted people to the fact that
  bandicoots were being killed by traffic, cats and
  foxes
