The beginning of effigy

• The Mimbres figurative and geometric styles.

• Early vessels were very open and the decorations
  covered the inside surfaces of the ceramics.

• Artists began closing in the openings and making
  vessels taller. Thus, the decorations began to
  embellish the outside of the pots rather than the
  inside.

• Painting was combined with sculptural additions,
  to create early effigy vessels.

  utilitarian to almost completely artistic
  inventions.
