Josiahs story

• Grandfather was Manasseh, a wicked king
• Father was Amon, a wicked king
• At age 8, Josiah became king
• At age 16, he began to seek the Lord (2Chron
  343)
• From age 20 - 26 destroyed idols (2Chron 343-8)
• At age 26, ordered Temple repaired (2Kgs 223-7)
• Book of the Law found and read (2Kgs 228-11)
• The LORD consulted (2Kgs 2212-20)
• Law read and applied to people (2Kgs 231-23)
• At age 39, killed in battle

A lasting tribute to Josiah

• And before him there was no king like him who
  turned to the LORD with all his heart and with
  all his soul and with all his might, according to
  all the law of Moses nor did any like him arise
  after him. 2 Kings 2325

Practical Lessons from Josiah

• Remember also your Creator in the days of your
  youth (Eccl 121)
• Had Josiah waited until he was older, he probably
  never would have served God
• He died at 39
• He served God as soon as he was able
• Learned what God wanted
• Knew what God expected of him
• Ready to make the commitment

• Having Gods word nearby does not mean it is
  doing any good
• The Law was in Jerusalem near the palace, in the
  Temple, but no one followed it
• Today, millions of Bibles around
• But most are neglected, though nearby
• Many are ignored if not neglected
• Many are not fully applied if not ignored

• When he found the Law he shared it with ALL
• Not stingy with Gods law
• We too need to share the good news
• Not enough to say, Heres a Bible, read it.
