Title: BP PRODML Activities
1BP PRODML Activities
2PRODuction XML PRODML
3PRODML Overview
- Energy industry initiative to create an industry
standard XML-based data exchange format for
production operations. - Used WITSML (Drilling data) as starting point
- Phase I scope Near real time production
optimization ? 2006 - PRODML Standards, Version 1.0 available on
October 16, 2006 - Phase II 2007 Expand successes of Phase I to
approach commercialization in 2008 - Next step Publish for community review PRODML

7BP PRODML Phase I Pilot
- Sub-set of Horn Mountain
- PI Historian data June 2nd to June 10th
- Three gas lift wells
- A-2 Juliet
- A-3 Foxtrot
- A-4 Alpha
- The purpose was to test the capability of PRODML
not the Petro-Technical applications - PRODML Interactions (Web Services)
- Plug Play Applications (OSIsoft or Sense
Consolidator) - Pilot overview Four phases
- Monitor Gas lift gas from the PI Historian
- Alert Trigger based on minimum gas lift gas
available value - Optimize Run optimiser - Triggered by user
manual inputs - Report Report optimiser results
8Horn Mountain Field BP Phase I Pilot
- Located 84 miles from Venice, Louisiana offshore
in Mississippi Canyon Block 126 and 127. - Ownership
- 67 by BP-operator
- 33 by OXY
- Water depth at platform 5,422
- Current Production
- Crude, 36 mbd
- Gas, 18 mmcfd
- Water, 31mbd
9Demo Process BP Phase I Pilot
- Monitor
- Comparison of the actual lift gas rate from PI
Historian to the trigger minimum lift gas rate
(Previously set) - Alert
- When the actual lift gas rate falls below the
trigger lift gas rate sends alert to operator
requesting a maximum lift gas rate - Optimize
- The optimizer is triggered when the maximum rate
is provided by the operator - Report
- The optimisation results are provided to the
operator
