2English Riding has categories Dressage,
jumping, and hunt class. Dressage is like a
ballet with horses and requires great skill and
discipline. Jumping is exciting for the rider
and the horse as well. Foxhunting requires
endurance and stamina.
English riding also has classes Dressage, Show
Jumping, Hunt and Foxhunting. Dressage is like a

3The Sport of Horseback Riding
- Horseback Riding involves horsemanship, the
ability to know horses, their temperaments, and
how to care for them. - Not all horses are created equal!
4The Sport of Horseback Riding
- Horses are used for therapeutic purposes for the
handicapped and physically challenged. - Owning a horse requires commitment and
dedication. They are not like house pets.
5The Sport of Horseback Riding
- Personally, I am currently being schooled in
jumping. It is rewarding to learn a new level of
riding and progress as you actually learn how to
flow as one with the horse. - The horse seems to understand and responds with
cooperation and seems to enjoy the workout as
well!
