Why do we procrastinate?

• We are afraid of change.
• We tend to resist work!
• We live under the "tyranny of the urgent"!
• We lack proper inner motivation.

Why procrastinationis wrong and dangerous!

It presumes what we do not have--another day!

• Come now, you who say, Today or tomorrow, we
  shall go to such and such a city, and spend a
  year there and engage in business and make a
  profit. Yet you do not know what your life will
  be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that
  appears for a little while and then vanishes
  away. (James 413-14)

• And working together with Him, we also urge you
  not to receive the grace of God in vainfor He
  says, At the acceptable time I listened to you,
  And on the day of salvation I helped you
  behold, now is the acceptable time, behold,
  now is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians
  61-2)

It is essentially disobedience to God.

• Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to
  do, and does not do it, to him it is sin. (James
  417)
• and whatever is not from faith is sin. (Romans
  1423)

It makes our lives become a force for evil rather
than good (To our friends, fellow-workers,
family).

• He who is not with Me is against Me and he who
  does not gather with Me scatters. (Matthew 1230)

It hardens us to the need for change!

• But encourage one another day after day, as long
  as it is still called Today, lest any one of
  you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
  (Hebrews 313)

It makes spiritual actors out of us.

• For just as the body without the spirit is dead,
  so also faith without works is dead. (James 226

It robs us of the blessings of serving God now!

• Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
  Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual
  blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
  (Ephesians 13)
