MAK ENTERPRISES MAK Enterprises is made up of 3
people, Mike Idlewine ,Archie Kappel, and Kevin
McDonald. Around 3 years ago Gary Chaney showed
up at one of the prone matches with a gun built
by Bill Wylde. Ive attached two pictures of it.

Bill coined the name funny gun or the Y2Kgun
to this rifle.
This to me this was the perfect setup for a long
range rifle. After several emails to Bill Wylde
regarding his setup and his disinterest in making
these in quantity for other than himself, we
began the process of creating drawings to make a
similar rifle. This was a concerted effort from
Dan Ireland, Mike Idlewine, and myself. Between
Dan I we managed to get enough parts machined
to build the first few kits. Dan built his and I
built mine. Below is a couple of pictures of my
first tube gun, the WIREMAC (Bill Wylde concept
(w), Dan Ireland (ire) and Kevin McDonald (mac)
project).

After shooting the Wiremac during the 2000
season, Mike, Archie, and I began working on the
process of developing a long range kit. During
the 2000 season we updated our drawings and had a
local shop run 25 kits as we had enough interest
from local shooters to support this run. From
this we made a few more improvements and started
another production run. These are the kits which
were just completed. The following pictures were
taken of the latest kits.

Sleeve
The kit consists of what is shown above, the
sleeve which the action (a short action Remington
700) fits in, what we call the aft cap or what
the standard AR15 buffer tube attaches to for the
buttstock, the hand guard, the trigger guard and
the sight rail. All of the components are made
from 6061 T6 Aluminum. All are CNC machined,
bead blasted, and come standard anodized black.

Sleeve
The sleeve is made specifically for the short
action Remington 700. It is the same type of
sleeve often used in the bench rest setup. The
difference is that the hand guard, trigger guard,
and aft cap all attach to the sleeve vs. bedding
the sleeve in a composite or wood stock. The
sleeve has clearance holes to allow the trigger
pins to be installed or removed for repair or
replacement. A slot is machined to allow for the
serial number of the action to be viewed to cure
any BATF type concerns. The loading port area
provides for easy loading and unloading of rounds
up to 3.00 in overall length. Longer loads may
be able to be removed without removing the bolt
but we have not proven this out yet.

Aft cap
The aft cap secures the buttstock to the sleeve.
It is held in place by (2) ¼-28 cap screws. It
has the AR15 charging handle feature to mimic the
AR15 for those who use this as a reference for
position. It is keyed such that the when
installed the slot for the bolt handle is aligned
with the sleeve slot for smooth operation when
working the bolt. The aft cap will accept any
AR15 style buttstock..

Trigger guard
The trigger guard serves several functions. It
provides easy access to the trigger, is the
attachment point for the the standard AR15 pistol
grip, and is the alignment mechanism to ensure
the aft cap slot for the bolt handle is aligned
with the sleeve.
