6How does it work? (Its all about simplicity!)
- Administrator follows installation wizard steps.
Installation wizard backs up current WebAccess
configuration and copies the appropriate
server-based files into the WebAccess
installation (includes WebAccess-based
administration component) - If email access through WebAccess is not allowed,
the administrator configures the Omni Mobile
restricted WebAccess Interface as the default.
This installs the Omni Mobile User Configuration
component without providing access to any other
GroupWise functionality - Installation Wizard deploys the file system-based
user preference store (no SQL, other database or
other hardware/software required) - Administrator enables and configures accounts to
be accessed through Omni Mobile - Cradle-sync, OTA, Blue Tooth and Wi-Fi options
can be enabled for user accounts on supported
devices - User logs into WebAccess with a browser and
selects the OM icon to select the folders to be
synchronized - Creates a personal profile for the update options
that have been enabled by the administrator.
Includes the ability to configure multiple
folders, address books, calendar, etc for each
connection type - Cradle Connected
- Host OTA network
- Remote OTA network
- Wi-Fi connected
7How does it work? (Its all about simplicity!)
- User/Administrator deploys the client application
on the mobile device - Place mobile device in cradle
- Download the Omni Mobile client application from
the WebAccess website or copy the application to
the mobile device from a desktop. Omni Mobile
uses the native connectivity software to
communicate with the handheld device. (This
process can be managed by ZENworks for
Handhelds.) - Select the installation file on the handheld
device. This installs the application and
licence file - Start Omni Mobile. Provide the standard
GroupWise Client login information - Press the synchronize button or initiate the
software process to transparently connect and
synchronise data
8Why is Omni Mobile the platform for the future?
- Support for Novells complete Collaboration Suite
- GroupWise, including WebAccess-type GroupWise
Document Management with Check out/Check in
functionality - Messenger
- iFolder
- NetMail
- Others
- What makes the Omni approach feasible?
- We started our Omni Mobile development process by
listening to what our GWMobile customers and
other GroupWise customers told us, and focused on
simplicity, multiple devices, customer-known/frien
dly interface and limited administrative
requirements - Choice of technology Most companies have to
create and manage multiple programming languages
for each mobile device platform and server-side
platform. Omni Mobile is built on a write-once,
compile to any mobile device you want platform - Virtually anything that can be written in Visual
Studio can be written to the Omni Mobile platform - Omni Mobile clients will be available for Windows
and LINUX desktops - Future versions
