"Given the opportunity to experience
international culture and history on a deeper
level, I was able to truly see how indelibly
tied my life is to international public service.
I was placed in a situation where I would have
to stretch to get the job done. I did stretch,
and I did succeed, and I have Texas AM to thank
for that growth." Bobby Robbinss '01Participant

12Importance of International Education
Employer Perspective In todays job market,
employers are increasingly looking for qualified
applicants who possess an ability to work in a
multicultural environment. ? We have employed
nearly 20 Texas AM interns at our overseas
plants in recent years. Several told me that
they secured good jobs after graduation because
of this international experience. (Michael
OBrien 54, Vice President and General Manager
Amkor Electronics, Inc., Irving, TX) You are
now a College Student You must start
considering how to improve your resume
International Education experience is one of the
best ways! ? Corporate hiring preferences show
nearly universal agreement among personnel
directors that their companies need managers and
employees with greater international knowledge
and experience abroad than the ones they are
hiring now. (Source Institute for
International Education, RAND Studies, March 1999)
