Objectives of Selection

• Giving formal recognition to the young people who
  excel in professional endeavours and contribution
  to the community
• Promoting prominent roles played by the aspiring
  young people in shaping a better future for
  society and
• Providing an incentive to all the promising young
  people who seek further advancement in personal
  achievement as well as public services.

Nomination

• Nomination Period for TOYP Selection 2005 is from
  18th June to 29th July. The Nominations shall
  fall in any one of these categories

• Commerce and Industry
• Professionals
• Civic and Social Services
• Entertainment/Sports/Culture and Arts

Eligibility of Nominee

• The candidate must ?
• Be between the age of 21 to 40 (from between 1st
  January 1965 and 1st January 1984)
• Be a Hong Kong citizen, or permanent resident who
  has been living in Hong Kong for at least 5 years
  
• Be able to attend the initial screening interview
  arranged by the Selection Consultants and the
  final Judging interview offered by the Panels of
  Judges in September
• Be nominated by a proposer
• Note The eligibility for the nomination is not
  applicable to deceased person

Proposer

• Individuals who are 21 years of age or above or
  by public/private organisations
• There is no limit to the number of nominations
  to be submitted by each party. The proposer
  cannot be the candidate himself/herself

Nomination Procedures and Conditions

• The candidates must attend the initial screening
  interview arranged by the Selection Consultant
  and supply supporting documents for examination
  in the course of initial screening interview
• Short-listed candidates must attend the final
  judging interview arranged by the Panel of Judges
  in September 2005
• The candidates must consent to allow publication
  of facts contained in the nomination form, as
  well as to indicate his willingness to to attend
  the Results Announcement Press Conference on 8th
  October 2005 and Award Presentation banquet on
  20th November 2005

Selection Criteria and Process

• The candidates personal achievements in his/her
  area of work or interest and contribution to the
  community equally constitute the criteria for
  consideration in the selection

Initial Screening Interview

• Initial Screening Interview will be held between
  1st to 31st August 2005 where the Selection
  Consultant will verify the significant data
  contained in each nomination form, examining the
  eligibility of each candidate and recommend a
  list of candidates for the Panel of Judges
  consideration for final judging interview. All
  information pertinent to the nomination and the
  information of awardees will not be released to
  the public and media until a final decision on
  the selection has been reached

Final Judging Interview

• All short-listed candidates will be notified and
  required to attend an interview by the panel of
  judges in September 2005 that allows for a final
  assessment of the qualifications and performance
  of the individual candidates with their areas of
  work and contribution to society
• The candidate will be informed of the date of
  the final judging interview at the initial
  screening interview

Announcement of Results

• Results will be announced at the Press Conference
  on 9th October 2005
• The successful candidates and their proposers
  will be notified of the results by registered
  mail and be invited to attend the Results
  Announcement Press Conference and the Award
  Presentation Banquet on 20th November 2005

• Wider Promotion for this year TOYP E.G. Mmedia
  like TV Channel and radio interviews, lamppost
  banner, news advertisement, poster, webpage
