  • The state tree is the ponderosa pine the bark
    of this tree was used for the telephone poles.
  • The western meadowlark has a beautiful chirp. It
    is always surrounded by a lot of mountain deer.
    The western meadowlark lives near a great grizzly
    bear population. The state animal happens to be
    the grizzly bear.

  • After gold was discovered in California, the
    Montanans went wild over the gold rush. Montanans
    searched all over Montana just to find some gold
    in the lakes, streams, and rivers.
  • Montanans usually grow crops near the lakes so
    the plants will grow faster.
  • Montana is a state that produces oil, gas for our
    cars, and coal for our trains.

  • The capital of this state is Helena, Montana.
  • The native Americans called it Helena
    because of all the Christmas trees it produces
    each year. The trees grow to 15 feet tall.
