Trimester Writing Assessment

• 1st Trimester Narrative
• Students write a three to five paragraph essay
  relating a story or personal experience.
• 2nd Trimester Response to Literature
• Students write a three to five paragraph essay
  related to a story they read in class and then
  respond. Students write an essay that interprets
  the theme or character from the story.
• 3rd Trimester Persuasive
• Students write a three to five paragraph
  essay where students explain their opinion to
  persuade the reader. Students give reasons and
  evidence as well as counter arguments in the
  essay.

Homework

• Homework is assigned nightly
• Students should expect to have short term and
  long term projects, and they should work on them
  accordingly. Students learn time management
  skills. The homework policy follows the Board
  guidelines, 1-1½ hours per night with an
  additional 20 minutes of reading.
