Title: PROJECT
1PROJECT
- Investigation of classrooms / training rooms
ecological environment
YEREF
2Introduction
This project is a part of international project
Young European taking Responsibility of their
Environmental Future, on which students of our
school as well as French, Belgium and Latvian
students have been working since September
2000. Its useful for our students and teachers
to know ecological conditions of the classrooms
we work in, we spend much time there and our
health, mood and working results depend on
conditions we are on. The aim of the project was
to investigate ecological conditions of the
classrooms / training rooms that is to measure
relative air humidity, temperature, artificial
light and power of exterior dose of gamma rays.
3The tasks of the project
- 1. To realize how important for schoolchildrens
health and working capasity is ecological clean
environment. - 2. To measure air humidity, temperature, light
and the power of exterior gamma rays dose. - 3. To gain experience using measuring
instruments. - 4. To learn to collect, analyse and generalize
information.
4The process of investigation
Ecological conditions were investigated in
twelve classrooms /training rooms in different
buildings and floors of the school mathematics,
history, computers, physics, Lithuanian,
chemistry - biology, agronomy classes and the
museum, gym, café, library - reading hall,
training / sport hall were chosen for
investigation. It was done by six schoolgirls
of the first course Greta Giedrikaite Donata
Jonaityte Diana Grineviciute Arune

the project Elena Vasiliauskiene
physics teacher
5The results of investigation done in the
classrooms in November, 2001
6Air humidity,
STANDART 40-60
7Temperature, 0C
STANDART 18-210C
8Artificial light, lx
STANDART 300lx (liuminesc.lamps), 150lx (normal
lamps)
9Gamma rays doze, µR/h
STANDART 50µr/H
10Conclusions made after the investigation
- Relative air humidity in the investigated
claasrooms / training rooms is high and in
mathematics, history and physics rooms exceed
normal standart. - Temperature in the classrooms is too low,
especially in the northern part of the school
building. - Not enough light in physics, maths and Lithuanian
rooms, especially in chemistry biology room,
gym and sports hall. The light in the reading
hall is less three times than the standart. - Dose of exterior gamma rays in the classrooms
doesnt exceed the normal dose. - Ecological conditions are not entirely good for
schoolchildrens health.
11Suggestions
- To set thermometres and hygrometres in order to
measure temperature and humidity constantly. - New lamps must be set instead the ones which do
not work. - To change illumination in the reading hall.
- Schoolchildren should change seats in the
classrooms twice a year. - Constantly air classrooms.
- Training hall should be heated.
- The central heating of the school building should
be changed into electrical one. - To renovate the school buildingto change the
windows, to reduce the amount of windows, to make
the building winter proof.
