Service
Customer choice of ADSL CPE
This is the Business 500 (501) contented
Activation service As can be seen it is intended
for single computer use. It is based on the Plug
and Go service in that there is no engineering
visit required and the customer is sent a Welcome
Pack containing 2 micro filters and the
BTOpenworld CDROM software. BUT there is NO
Modem supplied. It can be connected to either an
Ethernet or USB modem.
Contention ratio of 501
5Line Check and Ordering Process
- 1. Use the usual BTopenworld number checker web
screen to check customers line for ADSL
availability. - 2.Complete the customer order form selecting the
activation only product option and email to
the ordering team at business.sales_at_btopenworld.co
m . The team will then do an E.C.O line
survey test and email you the results pass/fail,
of that test. - 3.If successful they will complete your customers
order for you, and email you an Activation
date. You can then inform your customer
accordingly and arrange for installation/
delivery of any modem equipment you wish to
supply. If the line test is unsuccessful then you
can sell them an alternative solution. - 4.At 6pm on the Activation date the customers
line is switched on or activated as an ADSL
line. This means that any non ADSL equipment will
not work unless it is plugged into the
Microfilters.

7Where to sell it
- Intended target audience is large Corporate or
SMEs with good technical help to sort out the
selection of ADSL modems and any issues with
installation.BT Openworld will not advise or
support customers in selection of equipment or
its installation - The Business 500 activation only ( 501 ) service
will support connection of a USB modem for single
computer working and is really designed with that
in mind, or a combined Ethernet/router/modem ,
thus giving multiple user working ( LAN) .However
, customers should be reminded that all the
computers connected must share the speed of that
ADSL line , and the Business 500 has a contention
ratio of 501 which will have a impact on
multi-user use. - Better to use the 201 Business Plus activation
only products for LAN type requirements
