The Trips

• To get across the Atlantic it would cost 400 and
  would take only 2 days. Flights began in 1936
  with 6 trips to Rio de Janeiro and 10 trips to
  New York City carrying a total of 2,656
  passengers. In 1937 it made a trip to Rio and
  then returned to Germany. The Zeppelin departed
  Frankfurt for North America carrying 97 people on
  May the 3rd 1937.

The Hindenburg itself

• For those who dont know, the Hindenburg was the
  largest zeppelin ever in America. A zeppelin
  being hydrogen gas-filled, metal-framed airship.
  Just after making its crossing from the Atlantic
  to Germany on its maiden voyage of the year when
  it exploded over Lakehurst

The Airship

• Not only was it the largest airship ever built.
  Over 800 ft long from its nose to tail but it was
  a great luxury liner that carried over 2656
  people from the Atlantic to Germany and Rio de
  Janeiro. In the space of 37 seconds the mighty
  zeppelin was destroyed in a fire that killed a
  third of its crew and passengers and left
  spectators crying in horror.

The trip

• On many trips across the Atlantic the Hindenburg
  mostly kept an altitude of approx 650ft and moved
  at 78mph.
• On this trip it hit quite strong winds slowing it
  down a fare bit causing then to make a late
  arrival between 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on may 6th 1937.
