CAPPS II Defined

• What is CAPPS II?
• It is a prescreening system that the Department
  of Homeland Security hopes to have fully
  implemented in the near future to check all
  airline passengers against a database of
  commercially available information and to then
  provide the passenger a risk color/status.
• CAPPS II is not
• a way for the government to data mine information
  about its citizens.
• going to prevent people from getting things like
  car or home loans.
• a way for the government to keep track of where
  and when you travel.

• How long will it be stored?
• What if it is wrong?
• IF it is, how do I fix it?
• Can I trust the government with my personal

• What are my basic privacy rights when I fly?
