• Music has always been used as a means of
  expression by people all over the world for
  millennia.
• Much early music was commissioned by the
  church such as works by Handel and Bach. Later
  composers developed more romantic themes or even
  tried to tell a story with their compositions.

• Does music influences our moods?
• Do we associate specific events in history with
  particular pieces of music?
• Do composers consciously or sub-consciously write
  music which reflects the times?
