An indirect object is the object that is
indirectly affected by the action of the verb.

The indirect object answers the question to
whom? or for whom? about the action.
For example Bill gives a passport to Ann.
Bill gives a passport to whom?
Bill gives a passport to her.

An indirect object pronoun replaces the indirect
object noun.

6Placement of Indirect Object Pronouns
There are two different placements for Indirect
Object Pronouns
1. If the pronoun is the object of a conjugated
verb, then the I.O. pronoun is placed before the
conjugated verb.
2. If it is an infinitive verb, then the I.O.
pronoun is attached to the end of the
infinitive verb.

El agente me da el pasaporte
2. I am going to buy the shirt for her.
Voy a comprarle la camisa. or Le voy a comprar
la camisa.
