Designing your Banjo

• Use Elements of Art and Principles of Design
• Look at real instruments
• Look at pictures of instruments
• Consider theme or motif in your design
• Do rough sketches of your design
• Add color to your sketches
• Pick a final design

Assembly of your Banjo

• Sand neck for 10 minutes
• Be careful to sand all corners
• Sand all edges and other rough places
• Wipe neck with a moist towel
• Paint the neck and cookie tin
• Paint the nut and bridge
• Let all dry thoroughly

Tuning your Banjo

• With an electronic tuner,
• tune both strings to D
• Without an electronic tuner,
• pluck string and slowly turn key

Learning to Play your Banjo

• Press the string to the left of the staple(fret)
• DO NOT press directly on the fret
• Tuners should be on your left
• Fret with your left hand
• Strum at the right end of the banjo
• Use a plastic pick
