History of Health Education
  • - There is evidence that in ancient times people
    were told how to avoid disease , as part of the
    religious teaching.
  • - Later this has become a part of the
    regulations, habits, and traditions.

In Recent Days
  • - Educating people in health has become more
    necessary as a result of the rapid advances in
    knowledge ,technology, and the continued
    discovery of better ways of preventing disease.
  • A lot of efforts has to be done to modify our
    life style.

Health care of the children includes care of
  • - Feeding (to avoid ,anemia, mal nutrition,
    obesity).
  • - Immunization
  • - Prevention of disease
  • - Normal physical and mental development.

  • - Nowadays H.E. is an important activity in
    public health and school health .
  • -It is an effective and necessary tool in the
    prevention of diseases and the promotion of
    health.

  • - Health education is the sum of experiences and
    methods used to add to peoples knowledge , to
    improve their health habits , and to develop in
    them more healthy and scientific attitudes.
  • - Getting rid of un healthy habits, or modify
  • to the best if possible.
  • - Practical demonstration is very important
  • to school children to convince them to get
    accustom to it .

Purpose of Health education
  • - Is to inform the public of the principles of
    physical and mental hygiene , and the ways of
    preventing disease, so as to create an informed
    public opinion.
  • - To bring to the people the scientific knowledge
    regarding their health , by so doing make it
    easier for them to accept the public health
    programs designed for their benefit.
  • To promote healthy eating behaviors, physical
    activities and healthy life style among children.

  • - A great deal of health education is carried
    out by doctors, school health nurses, health
    educators, general nurses , midwives, health
    visitors ,and the other health workers as part of
    their daily practice.

    effective and long lasting.

  • - It has more concentration , specific to the
    target.
  • - you can assess the individual knowledge and
    stress on the actual H.E. needs of the client.

  • - use their own language ,accent, ( not
    sophisticated). If possible.
  • - Respect their religion, traditions.
  • - Give acceptable and realistic examples.

  • - School Health department co-ordinates with
    ministry of education about the desired topics to
    be covered per academic year .
  • - We put the annual plan of health education to
    be implemented in each school suiting the age
    group and their needs
  • - Health educators , nurses , school health
    doctors , plus expertise of different specialists
    Perform the health education sessions.
  • -Health education in schools is the ideal method
    ,which has greater and more lasting effects.
  • - School health usually covers all educational
    subjects .
  • - The school represents a most important learning
    situation for a large and significant group of

    influence the life of the child.
  • -It improves children life style.
  • - It modifies his un healthy habits.
  • - It has a good preventive role in individual
    life .
  • - It strengthen the good and healthy habits in
    the individual's life .
  • - Cost effective approach ,in comparison to the
    hospitalization.
