• Mainly Rural Large Coastline 26 Islands
• Many Communities in Argyll and Bute
• Pre-Landfill Tax only 1 or 2 Recycling Groups
• Currently 7 Main Community Recycling Groups
• All are represented on Area Waste Group

Do

• Work with Local Authorities
• Be Flexible in your approach
• Deliver when given the opportunity

Dont

• Continually moan and criticise
• Cry wolf on services and funding
• Expect future funding without delivering

• Electrical smaller items e.g., computers
• Community clean-ups, beach cleans
• Ask the Local Authority i.e., gaps you could fill?

SUMMARY

• Landfill Tax Funding has changed what will
  replace it?
• New funding to be found Scottish
  Executive/Councils (SWF)/NOF
• Council/Community Sector working together can
  work as both have a common goal i.e., increased
  recycling
• Needs a flexible approach by both parties
• Services must offer best or added value and be
  delivered
• Very busy and exciting time in recycling although
  some issues remain uncertain
