  • By the end of the year, you will be able to
  • Use a digital camera and digital imaging software
    to take manipulate photographs
  • Use audio software to create digital music
    podcasts
  • Use computer animation software to create
    computer animation
  • Perform many other technology related activities
  • Learn to work as a team with your classmates to
    accomplish a task.

  • 80 Projects/Assignments/Tests
  • 20 Attendance/Participation
  • NO CLASSNO PASS
  • (-3 pts.tardy -5 pts.ABS)
  • Late Work is 10 points off a six weeks
  • Tests will be given at the end of a unit (if
    applicable)
  • The Semester Exam is 1/5 of the semester grade
  • Citizenship grade will reflect classroom
    behavior.

    for all teachers, speakers and students, as well
    as all school and private property, in this
    classroom. This includes...
  • Following Boys Town principles
  • Not interrupting others when they are speaking
  • Keeping you hands, feet and objects to yourself

  • Not disturbing others
  • Using self-control
  • Students may expect the same respect from the
    teacher, students and speakers. Disrespecttoward
    ANYONE or ANYTHINGwill not be tolerated in this
    class.

  • Respect your peers, your teacher, the classroom
    environment, and yourself
  • Follow all school rules, classroom policies and
    instructionswithout comment or questionthe
    first time given.
  • No Food, Candy or Drinks (only bottled water)
  • Do not touch computers or other equipment or use
    the Internet without permission.
  • Arrive to class on time with all required
    materials.
  • No personal grooming during class time.
  • Do not use vulgar or offensive language.
  • Any disruption to the learning process is a
    violation of classroom and school rules.
  • ALL SCHOOL RULES, DRESS CODE AND STUDENT
    HANDBOOK RULES APPLY

  • Consequences
  • Rewards for model behavior include verbal
    recognition and notes or a phone call home.
  • 1st Offense Warning/Seat change
  • 2nd Offense Short Conference, Parent Contact,
    Loss of citizenship points
  • 3rd Offense Parent Contact and/or Referral to
    AP, and/or Parent Conference
  • Severe disruption will be referred to the
    Assistant Principal immediately.

  • Class Policies
  • Sign-in on the attendance sheet everyday
  • TARDY POLICY
  • If you are not in the room when the bell rings,
    you must sign tardy sheet. (If you do not sign
    either sheet then you are absent!)
  • If you are tardy 1st or 5th period, check in at
    the attendance office.
  • For each tardy (2-5), I will assign lunch
    detention and submit the ticket to the school
    office (30 mins to be served the following day in
    room 203).
  • After 3 tardies you cannot be exempt from the
    final.
  • WOULDNT IT BE NICE TO BE EXEMPT FROM THE FINAL?

  • BATHROOM PASSES
  • I will give you the hall pass to leave the room.
  • You will be issued one bathroom pass per six
    weeks. Use it wisely. It can be exchanged for
    extra credit at the end of a six weeks (I will
    automatically add 1 point to your final grade).
  • FYI
  • Everyday, everyone, will initial the attendance
    sheet (this is how I will check roll)
  • Begin the posted assignment right away upon
    entering the classroom.
  • I will be available Tues. Thurs. morning before
    school if anyone needs extra help or another time
    can be arranged.

  • Inappropriate work
  • Turned in or found in your possession will be
    counted as a zero . Inappropriate work is defined
    as something that is unacceptable classroom
    material or behavior captured on film, video or
    computer as defined by the student code of
    conduct. This work will be turned in along with a
    referral to your AP.
  • Cheating/Stealing or turning in anothers work as
    your own will earn the student a zero for the
    assignment.

  • The computer lab is not your personal computer
  • therefore do not
  • Chat on-line/Blogging
  • Check/Write E-mail
  • Listen to CDs/music
  • View obscene material
  • Use for your personal web surfing
  • Download material
  • Print from the Internet
  • Play games
  • Disciplinary action will be taken/referrals will
    be written
  • If you are in doubt about whether something is
    inappropriate ask Mrs. McPherson before
    attempting.

  • EVERYDAY LAB PROCEDURES-(fill in your worksheet)
  • At the beginning of class
  • 1. Sign the attendance sheet.
  • 2. Pick up your folder.
  • 3. Pick up cone.
  • 4. Begin assignment right away.
  • When you are tardy SIGN the book!
  • During class
  • Work quickly quietly.
  • When you need to ask a question USE YOUR CONE!
  • Work the ENTIRE time.
  • When working with a partner use Teamwork

  • WHEN YOU HAVE A QUESTION
  • Place the cone on top of the computer hard drive
    when you have a question and wait patiently.
  • It will do you no good to call my name.
  • I will only come when the appropriate signal is
    given.
  • Continue working even if your cone is up until I
    can get around to you.
  • This will help our learning process go more
    quickly.

At the end of class
  • DO NOT shutdown early!
  • I will give the call for clean up.
  • All tools must be put away stations must be
    clean.
  • Return all equipment cameras, cones, folders,
    headphones, turn in folders to holder.
  • Sit at computer stations
  • Once I check the room- Class will be dismissed

  • TROUBLESHOOTING
  • WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU HAVE PROBLEMS
  • If you cant figure out a program on the first
    try DONT GIVE UP or call for help!
  • This is a problem-solving class, that means that
    you will have to read the instructions 2 to 3
    times slowly, step-by-step to figure it out.
  • Use the knowledge you have from other programs to
    help you.
  • Remember you must concentrate!
  • When all else fails put up your cone and wait
    patiently.

EXPECTATIONS
  • Using the equipment in this class is a privilege,
    not a right.
  • You may be prohibited from using equipment if
    goofing off, using for inappropriate purpose,
    stealing equipment, being careless, wasting time,
    being late, or leaving equipment unattended.
  • You are expected to have adult maturity around
    the equipment.
  • Do not take advantage of being able to take
    pictures outside of class.
  • Do what you say you are going to do and be back
    ON TIME!
  • Your equipment privilege may be revoked at any
    time.

  • You will sign out for all equipment
  • Never hand your equipment to a stranger
  • Never leave equipment unattended
  • Never take your eyes off your equipment
  • TRUST NO ONE BUT YOURSELF
  • If a camera in your possession is missing you
    will be held responsible and will not be issued
    another one BUT you will still be responsible for
    the assignment.
  • Treat school equipment better than your own.
  • Report stolen equipment to Mrs. McPherson right
    away.
