- The McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance
Improvements Act of 2001 guarantees homeless
students a free, appropriate public education.
14 - The McKinney-Vento Act defines children and youth
who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime
residence as homeless. - People living in multifamily situations
- People living in hotels or motels
- People living in shelters
- Children awaiting foster care
- People living in cars, parks, campgrounds,
or on the street

- considered homeless.

16Kinship Law
- Age 62 or older
- Non-needy caretaker relative
- Care for child for 6 months or more
- Child related by blood, adoption or marriage

- Natural disasters
18Economic hardship means homelessness IF
- there are limited financial resources and
family or youth has been forced to leave personal
residence and share housing due to the inability
to pay rent or other bills.
19A long-term cooperative living arrangement
- among families or
friends that is fixed, regular, and adequate
should NOT be considered a homeless situation,
even if the parties are living together to save
money.
