Once upon a midnight dreary
Slow pan zoom
4
while I pondered, weak and weary,
High angle establishing shot from bookshelf
5
Over many a quaint and curious volume of
forgotten lore,
6
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there
came a tapping,
Turn around with pan
7
As of someone gently rapping, rapping at my
chamber door.
Move to close up of face
8
" 'Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my
chamber door Only this, and nothing more."
9
Ah, distinctly I remember, it was in the bleak
December,
Zoom in to crackling fire
Leisurely turns back
10
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost
upon the floor.
Tilt up, following the ghost trails
11
Eagerly I wished the morrow vainly I had sought
to borrow From my books surcease of sorrow,
Slow zoom in for extreme close up
12
sorrow for the lost Lenore,
13
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels
name Lenore, Nameless here forevermore.
Spirits drift upward
Gently zoom in
14
And the silken sad uncertain rustling of each
purple curtain Thrilled me---
Turns head
15
filled me with fantastic terrors never felt
before
Zoom to detail shot
16
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I
stood repeating,
17
" 'Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my
chamber door, Some late visitor entreating
entrance at my chamber door. This it is, and
nothing more."
High angle shot with voice in echo
18
Presently my soul grew stronger hesitating then
no longer,
Stands up and walks a few steps
19
"Sir," said I, "or madam, truly your forgiveness
I implore But the fact is, I was napping, and so
gently you came rapping,
20
And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my
chamber door, That I scarce was sure I heard you."
Shuffles to the door
21
Here I opened wide the door---
22
Darkness there,
23
and nothing more.
24
Deep into the darkness peering, long I stood
there, wondering, fearing
OTS as he peers into the darkness
25
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortals ever dared
to dream before
Objects slowly morph to devilish form with long
shadows
26
But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness
gave no token, And the only word there spoken was
the whispered word,
Slow zoom in to dark void
27
Lenore?
Looks side to side in confusion
28
This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the
word, "Lenore!" Merely this, and nothing more.
Puckers lips to speak
29
Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within
me burning, Soon again I heard a tapping,
something louder than before,
Slow pan, following his footsteps
Full shot of room from bookshelf POV
30
"Surely," said I, "surely, that is something at
my window lattice.
31
Let me see, then, what thereat is, and this
mystery explore.
32
Let my heart be still a moment, and this mystery
explore. "Tis the wind, and nothing more."
High angle panning shot from POV of Raven, while
wings rustle the trees
33
Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a
flirt and flutter, In there stepped a stately
raven, of the saintly days of yore.
34
Not the least obeisance made he not a minute
stopped or stayed he
Low angle, camera tilts up following Ravens
trajectory
35
But with mien of lord or lady, perched above my
chamber door.
Quick zoom
36
Perched upon a bust of Pallas, just above my
chamber door,
Tilt up to OTS of Raven
37
Perched, and sat, and nothing more.
Camera completely still
38
Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into
smiling, By the grave and stern decorum of the
countenance it wore,
39
"Though thy crest be shorn and shaven thou," I
said, "art sure no craven, Ghastly, grim, and
ancient raven, wandering from the nightly shore.
Tell me what the lordly name is on the Night's
plutonian shore."
Moves hand over mouth to project voice
40
Quoth the raven, "Nevermore."
41
Much I marveled this ungainly fowl to hear
discourse so plainly, Though its answer little
meaning, little relevancy bore
Floor shot with door and bookshelf skewed
42
For we cannot help agreeing that no living human
being Ever yet was blessed with seeing bird above
his chamber door,
Attentive eye contact with slow uniform zoom
43
Bird or beast upon the sculptured bust above his
chamber door, With such name as "Nevermore."
44
But the raven, sitting lonely on that placid
bust, spoke only That one word, as if his soul in
that one word he did outpour.
Flaps wings momentarily, re-establishing balance
45
Nothing further then he uttered not a feather
then he fluttered
Now completely still
46
Till I scarcely more than muttered, "Other
friends have flown before On the morrow he will
leave me, as my hopes have flown before."
High angle medium shot, flaps his arms twice
47
Then the bird said, "Nevermore."
48
Startled at the stillness broken by reply so
aptly spoken, "Doubtless," said I, "what it
utters is its only stock and store, Caught from
some unhappy master, whom unmerciful disaster
Followed fast and followed faster, till his songs
one burden bore,--- Till the dirges of his hope
that melancholy burden bore Of "Never---nevermore.
"
Paces while he speaks
49
But the raven still beguiling all my sad soul
into smiling,
A grin slowly forms
50
Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of
bird, and bust and door
Pan follows him as he drags the footrest
51
Then, upon the velvet sinking, I betook myself to
linking Fancy unto fancy, thinking what this
ominous bird of yore -- What this grim, ungainly,
ghastly, gaunt and ominous bird of yore Meant in
croaking "Nevermore."
Floor shot as he sits down and slouches into a
thinking pose
52
Thus I sat engaged in guessing, but no syllable
expressing To the fowl, whose fiery eyes now
burned into my bosom's core
Slow uniform zoom
53
This and more I sat divining, with my head at
ease reclining On the cushion's velvet lining
that the lamplight gloated o'er, But whose velvet
violet lining with the lamplight gloating o'er
She shall press, ah, nevermore!
High angle OTS as he chills
54
Then, me thought, the air grew denser, perfumed
from an unseen censer Swung by seraphim whose
footfalls tinkled on the tufted floor.
Smell prompts him to get up, visible scent
billows and moves right
55
"Wretch," I cried, "thy God hath lent thee -- by
these angels he hath Sent thee respite---respite
and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore! Quaff,
O quaff this kind nepenthe, and forget this lost
Lenore!"
Does not turn around, but sniffs the scent and
knows immediately what it is
56
Quoth the raven, "Nevermore!"
57
"Prophet!" said I, "thing of evil!--prophet
still, if bird or devil! Whether tempter sent, or
whether tempest tossed thee here ashore,
Low angle, points his fist at Raven
58
Desolate, yet all undaunted, on this desert land
enchanted--On this home by horror haunted--tell
me truly, I implore
Floor shot, lost spirits circle him
59
Is there--is there balm in Gilead?--tell me--tell
me I implore!"
High angle as he looks up
60
Quoth the raven, "Nevermore."
61
"Prophet!" said I, "thing of evil--prophet still,
if bird or devil! By that heaven that bends above
us--by that God we both adore--Tell this soul
with sorrow laden, if, within the distant Aidenn,
Low angle OTS
62
It shall clasp a sainted maiden, whom the angels
name Lenore---Clasp a rare and radiant maiden,
whom the angels name Lenore?
Low angle reverse OTS
63
Quoth the raven, "Nevermore."
64
"Be that word our sign of parting, bird or
fiend!" I shrieked, up starting-- "Get thee back
into the tempest and the Night's Plutonian shore!
Gentle downward curve zoom
65
Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy
soul hath spoken! Leave my loneliness unbroken!
-- quit the bust above my door!
High angle, no face visible, slams fist on the
floor
66
Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy
form from off my door!"
Violently swings hand off his chest
67
Quoth the raven, "Nevermore."
Attentive eye contact with slow zoom
68
And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting,
still is sitting On the pallid bust of Pallas
just above my chamber door
Low angle floor shot, no eye contact
69
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's
that is dreaming.
Medium zoom to detail of eye
70
And the lamplight o'er him streaming throws his
shadow on the floor
Slowly curve up to top view of Raven, gradually
revealing more and more of his shadow
71
And my soul from out that shadow that lies
floating on the floor
Cut as he falls to the floor, with slow outward
zoom to POV of Raven
72
Shall be lifted---nevermore!
Fast slideshow zooms to eyeball
