Days of the Week/ Los días de la semana

• In Spanish-speaking countries, the week begins on
  Monday.
• Notice that the days of the week are not
  capitalized.
• The days of the week are all masculine.
• Days of the week ending in -s do not change form
  in the plural. Only the article changes.

"On"

• When used with the days of the week, the definite
  article has the special meaning on.
• No trabajo el lunes ... I dont work on Monday.
• No trabajo los martes I dont work on Tuesdays.
• Hay una fiesta el miércoles There is a party on
  Wednesday.
• Hay muchas fiestas los viernes There are many
  parties on Fridays.

• Note that, like the days of the week, they are
  not capitalized.
• Watch your spelling and pronunciation.
• To express in a certain month, use the
  preposition en.
• Vamos a México en enero ... We are going to
  Mexico in January.
• Las clases empiezan en el mes de septiembre ...
  Classes begin in September.

  seasons.
• En América del Norte, la primavera empieza en
  marzo ... In North America, spring begins in
  March.
• En América del Sur, la primavera empieza en
  septiembre In South America, spring begins in
  September.
• NOTE The seasons are reversed south of the
  equator. When it is winter in New York, NY, it is
  summer in Santiago, Chile.

• To ask todays date you can say
• Cual es la fecha de hoy?
• To respond use the following formula
• Hoy es el number de month.
• Examples Hoy es el veinte y seis de septiembre.
• Hoy es el cinco de mayo
• Hoy es el catorce de febrero
• If it is the first of the month use primero
  instead of uno
• Example Es el primero de agosto. Its the
  first of August.
• The Spanish way is to write the day month
  year. This is different from the American way
  (month day year).
