14Interdisciplinary
- Nanoscience is an interdisciplinary research area
involving disciplines such as physics, chemistry,
molecular biology, medicine and materials
science. - To do research in before mentioned disciplines it
is necessary to be interdisciplinary. - In nanoscience the boundaries between the
classical disciplines are wiped out. - Interdisciplinary skills are increasingly
demanding skills requested by the industry and
research community.
15iNANO research areas
- Functional Nano-materials
- Nanocoatings, tribological coatings,
nano-composits, polymers, nano-fibers,
atomic-scale design of materials.
- Nano-Energy-materials
- Catalysis, energy storage, solar cells,
thermoelectric-materials
- NanoMedicine
- Drug delivery and design, diagnostics,
biocompatible materials
- Self-assembled molecular nano-structures
- DNA nanostructures, 2D molecular surface
structures
- NanoFood
- Biosensors, anti-biofouling surfaces, functional
food, food safety
- Nano-photonics and nano-electronics
- Semiconductor nanocrystals
